You’ve said yes, the ring is on, hearts in your eyes… it’s time to kickstart the wedding planning!
While creating the perfect table set-up and choosing the ultimate playlist is important, getting caught up in the finer details of your wedding day early on can be overwhelming. So, we’ve narrowed it down to the big picture stuff and have rounded up our top tips to make your wedding planning run seamlessly! Without further ado…
Set your priorities early on
Before you get into the minutiae of planning your wedding, discuss with your partner the kind of feel you want to create for your day and decide what’s most important to you. From this, settle on three or four priorities at the beginning. This will help you to set your budget and will give you something to refer back to when you have to make decisions later on.
Budget, budget, budget!
This is an essential step. Regardless of how much or how little you have to spend, without a detailed budget, the cost of your wedding day can very quickly begin to escalate. Ask yourself these questions: What’s a priority? What’s not? and start to allocate your funds accordingly.

Trust your suppliers
Finding your dream team of suppliers may take a bit of time, but once you find the right people, your wedding planning will feel so much simpler! Just be sure you communicate your vision clearly and then leave them to do what they do best. A great way to meet with suppliers is through local wedding fairs and by asking your venue for their list of recommended suppliers.
Delegate to your heart’s content
With over 200 hours of planning involved for the average wedding, if there’s one time you need to delegate, it’s now! From running simple errands to confirming details with suppliers – friends, family, bridesmaids, you name them – will (99% of the time) be more than willing to help.
Find the perfect venue
Choosing your wedding venue is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. Ultimately, you need to ensure that it fits your guest count, style and budget – and of course, location is key! We suggest setting a date and getting your venue booked in as far in advance as you can to avoid disappointment.
Assign a false wedding date
When it comes to planning your wedding, organisation is essential. It’s all too easy to run out of time just before your big day, which is why setting a false date around 1 month before could save a lot of last-minute stress. While you may find that by the time the false date arrives you’ll still have bits to do, at least you’ll be ahead of schedule. This way, you can unwind and really enjoy the lead up to your wedding day.
