IDSc Annual Conference and Exhibition, Hilton Hotel, Blackpool
23-26 November 2008

Eastwood Park will be promoting its extended Decontamination portfolio at the IDSc conference next month including the latest course to be launched – the Decontamination Lead Training course.

This new 5-day residential course provides the learner with the required knowledge and skills to perform the role of decontamination lead within a healthcare environment.  It addresses the principles and processes of decontamination, emphasising the importance of infection prevention and control.  It includes the practical operation of different types of decontamination equipment and the importance of regular testing; the equipment tender process and the principles of audit and identifying the training needs of staff working within a decontamination environment.

Sue Peckham, Eastwood Park’s Training Manager responsible for the Decontamination portfolio will be attending the IDSc conference:  “Our Decontamination portfolio has changed significantly in line with the drive towards reducing the risks of hospital spread infections.  We have been training and assessing in excess of 350 NVQ students in the last two years since the Decontamination pathway of the Health Level 3 NVQ has become available.  Also the intake on the Foundation Degree Decontamination pathway, for those operating at a more technical or supervisory role, has doubled this year.  As a work-based and distance learning qualification this enables those in full time employment to achieve an academic qualification that opens up wider career opportunities, often with funding support while still at work. The IDSc conference presents an opportunity for us to update delegates on the new portfolio.  We will have our latest training calendar which contains the latest changes across our whole portfolio of courses.”

Eastwood Park will be at the IDSc Annual Conference and Exhibition, Hilton Hotel, Blackpool, 23-26 November 2008, alternatively for more information call 01454 262777.
