Training NewsEastwood Park partners with IDSc | Feb 08Eastwood Park Training Centre is delighted to announce it has been appointed the official training partner of the IDSc (Institute of Decontamination Sciences). Gillian Sills, IDSc Director of Education commented: “Working together with Eastwood Park will enable the Institute to develop and extend its education provision to enhance the professional development of all of our members and help attract new ones.” The Institute and Eastwood Park have already been working well together in establishing and delivering the Decontamination NVQ, so this is a logical next step towards implementing wider development opportunities in Decontamination. It is intended the two organisations will work closely together to create a development “curriculum” that meets the needs and aspirations of decontamination staff and prepares them for further learning, training or employment opportunities. John Thatcher, Director of Training and Chief Executive at Eastwood Park said: “We are pleased to be offered this opportunity to continue working alongside Gillian and her colleagues. We have considerable experience in developing and delivering qualifications, courses, seminars and CPD provision in Decontamination and are actively planning additional provision in each of these areas in conjunction with the IDSc.” Eastwood Park recently announced the national achievements of the first candidates taking the new NVQ Level 3 Decontamination. The seventeen candidates from both the NHS and Private Sector succeeded in gaining their award in under a year, where normally this can take from 18-24 months. This has been due to the new “activity based” assessment practice designed and delivered by the Training Centre.
