Chinese learn from experts at Eastwood Park | Dec 07

Specialist training centre, Eastwood Park, recently played host to a management delegation from China. The primary purpose of the visit was to investigate how the UK operates its hospital support services and provides the related staff training.

NHS training and education in the UK is still perceived as among the best in the world. With the booming Chinese economy hospitals in China are keen to raise the service levels in their own country and ensure they are on par with the highest international standards.

The weeklong trip included an overview of the UK Codes of Practice and their implementation in areas such as decontamination, piped medical gas facilities, medical equipment, fire and water safety, as well as ventilation and refrigeration. The delegation also visited Leeds General Infirmary, St James’ Hospital and the private sector Decontamination Super Centre in Leeds.

Commented John Thatcher, CEO and Training Director at Eastwood Park: “With much negative news about service standards in our own hospitals it’s easy to forget how far advanced we are compared with many other parts of the world. We were delighted to share Best Practice with our Chinese colleagues and hope we will be able to assist them further in the future.”
