Dyson Airblade gives a new ‘hands on’ experience at Eastwood Park | Jun 07

Recognised as the world’s only truly hygienic hand dryer, Dyson Airblade has now been installed at Eastwood Park, provider of high quality training to the health sector utilizing the latest technology and equipment.

Dyson Airblade is a breakthrough in hand dryer technology. It overcomes all of the disadvantages of conventional hot air dryers which simply heat up and recirculate contaminated air. Research has also shown that it’s more energy efficient and less maintenance is needed from its owners and operators.

The Dyson Airblade filters incoming air to remove 99.9% of bacteria before blowing a blade of unheated purified air at 400 mph through an aperture the width of an eyelash to wipe water from hands, without the need for rubbing your hands. It dries hands in ten seconds, more than twice as fast as any other hand dryer. The dryer operates automatically when hands are inserted or removed.

The Dyson Airblade incorporates Dyson’s digital motor which uses up to 83% less energy than heated air dryers. The new Dyson hand drying system promises typical savings of 20% over other hand dryers and a massive 97% over paper hand towels.

Steve Dickson, Programme Manager, Eastwood Park explains why he chose the Airblade:

“We make a point of using and installing the latest technology to bring it to the attention of the healthcare industry. The Airblade’s superiority to other hand dryers in hygiene has been received well in our Decontamination Laboratories, where delegates already have a good understanding of infection control and recognise the importance of such a device.

The Airblade is also now an integral part of the ‘Improving Energy Performance in Buildings Course’ where our delegates will be able to measure energy consumption against other Hand Dryers. Delegates witness for themselves that Dyson lead the way in hand dryers. The Airblade saves Energy and does not compromise on performance.“

Engineers at Dyson’s UK Research, Design and Development Centre spent three years developing, testing and refining the new technology. After rigorous trials, Dyson commissioned independent hygiene specialists to benchmark it against other hand dryers. The Dyson Airblade has been accredited by the Royal Institute of Public Health, and Dyson’s research into hand hygiene has been validated by British Skin Foundation. The Dyson Airblade has been installed in hospitals, restaurants, schools and many other public places.
