Decontamination and Healthcare Engineering NVQ’s | Jun 07

Eastwood Park is pleased to announce that in line with the NHS Agenda for Change, and in particular the Knowledge and Skills Framework, Eastwood Park is currently developing NVQ provision in a range of healthcare support service disciplines.

Full NVQ’s and individual Unit training and accreditation will be offered in early 2006 in the areas of Decontamination, Lift Maintenance & Servicing, and Air Conditioning & Ventilation. These qualifications will be followed with further NVQ’s later in the year related to Medical Gas Pipeline System Maintenance, Decontamination Equipment Maintenance & Testing and Servicing Medical Electronic Equipment.

The Eastwood Park programme of NVQ’s is directly linked to the relevant professional bodies involved in their development; these include the Sector Skills Councils of Skills for Health and SEMTA (Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies) and the Institute of Decontamination Sciences (IDSc). Eastwood Park will work directly with the IDSc and the City & Guilds Awarding Body to deliver these qualifications.

The initial focus for the delivery of the NVQ’s will be at level 3, but this will be extended into levels 1 and 2, to facilitate entry to level 3, and later to level 4 for higher technical and managerial roles.

An official announcement regarding Eastwood Park’s involvement in the Decontamination NVQ programme will be made at the IDSc conference in Blackpool on the 29th November 2005.
