Summer seminars to focus on infection prevention in the dental practice Apr 2010

40th

Eastwood Park Training and 4 Square Healthcare (a division of DB Orthodontics) will be running a series of seminars, entitled Understanding Dental Decontamination , across the UK this summer to promote the importance of infection prevention and control within dentistry in line with HTM 01-05 guidelines.

Effective cleaning and inspection of dental instruments is a key aspect of maintaining satisfactory dental instrument reprocessing procedures.  The seminars will address the importance of good standards of dental instrumentation facilities, equipment, processes and management as well as the consequences of failing to comply with the latest HTM guidelines. It is ideal for practice managers and senior dental nurses responsible for decontamination procedures in their practice.

Sue Peckham, Training Manager at Eastwood Park is expecting the seminars will raise awareness not only of the new guidelines but the importance of infection prevention and control overall:  “The HTM guidelines are in place for a reason and dental practices need to ensure they are working to the highest professional standards.  We hope these seminars attended by speakers from within the profession will go some considerable way to addressing and raising standards and awareness.”

The seminars will run as follows and the one-day seminar awards 5 hours CPD on the topic of decontamination:

4 June – Sheffield
11 June – Gloucestershire
1 July – Sheffield
16 July – Central London
