Carol is keen to hear from those with a background in decontamination and who would like to become Eastwood Park assessors/IQAs, as well as those who are already qualified. Eastwood Park delivers work-based learning nationally and would welcome interest from across the UK. The delivery programmes would include Eastwood Park’s Certificate in the decontamination of reusable medical instruments, the new proposed QCF level 3 qualification in decontamination to the Foundation Degree in Medical Technologies. John Thatcher, CEO and Training Director at Eastwood Park commented: “Work-based learning is a vital and growing sector of the learning provision we are able deliver. It is increasingly important for SSD managers to be able to develop their staff, while remaining on-the-job. Our new team are fully equipped to be able to closely monitor and assist learners across the country through a mentoring process, enabling the learners to achieve to their maximum capabilities. However we are growing at a fast rate and are eager to hear from others with experience in the decontamination sector.” One of Eastwood Park’s main work-based learning programme’s is the Foundation Degree in Medical Technologies (decontamination and medical equipment pathways) which continues to grow in popularity each year. There are only a few spaces remaining for this year’s intake in March 2012. It is the next level on from qualifications achieved at level 3 and is a two-year work-based programme that can lead to the Medical Technologies Management BSc Honours degree in year 3. Applicants considering this next step need to ensure their forms are in by the end of February for the next intake and beat likely university fee rises later in 2012.
