The course is accredited by the City & Guilds of London Institute, certificate 2295-20.

Who will benefit?
Operators of washer disinfectors. These will include SSD staff and any other person who is responsible for the operation of an instrument washer disinfector.

Aim
To enable delegates to meet their responsibilities as operators of washer disinfectors as defined in HTM 2030.

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
  • Define their role and responsibilities as recommended in HTM 2030/HTM 01-01 Part A
  • Explain the periodic testing requirements of washer disinfectors and ultrasonic washers as recommended in HTM 2030/HTM 01-01 Part A  
  • Carry out an automatic control test and cleaning efficacy test for residual soil    
  • Explain the principle of how a washer disinfector works and how to load it properly
  • Understand the decontamination process
  • Maintain and understand the importance of log books for washer disinfectors

Other information
Practical exercises form an important part of this course, enabling delegates to fulfill their role. If delivered in-house at client premises, equipment must be provided by the client to accomplish this.

ST02 - Large porous load sterilizers - operators

Depending on your role you may wish to progress as follows:
STM2 - Large porous load sterilizers – quarterly testing

Suitable for Test Persons:
WTM1 - Washer disinfectors – periodic testing (HTM 01-01)

Suitable for Operators:
STO1 - Transportable steam sterilizers - operators
STO2 - Large porous load sterilizers - operators

Suitable for Senior Decontamination personnel:
DFD - Foundation degree (decontamination)
(Levels IV & V, for further workbased study)
