Who will benefit?
Operators of large porous load sterilizers. These may include SSD staff and any other person who is responsible for the operation of a porous load sterilizer.

Aim
To enable delegates to meet their responsibilities as operators of large porous load sterilizers as defined in HTM 2010/HTM 01-01 Part A.

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
  • Carry out daily testing on large porous load sterilizers as recommended in HTM 2010/HTM 01-01 Part A
  • Define their role and responsibilities as recommended in HTM 2010/HTM 01-01 Part A
  • Explain the reasons for correct usage and loading of sterilizers
  • Explain the relationship between saturation temperature and pressure of steam
  • Explain the decontamination process
  • Maintain log books for sterilizers

Other information
Practical exercises form an important part of this course, enabling delegates to fulfill their role. If delivered in-house at client premises, equipment must be provided by the client to accomplish this.

If in a Test Person role:
STM2 - Large porous load sterilizers – quarterly testing

If in a SSD Manager role:
DTM - SSD supervisors / managers course

For further workbased study:
DFD - Foundation degree (decontamination)
