STM4 - Transportable vacuum steam sterilizers - quarterly testing to HTM guidance

Duration
3.5 days

Prerequisite to attending the course
The successful completion of STM1 (Transportable steam sterilizers–annual testing to HTM2010/HTM01-01) is a prerequisite for attending this course.

Accreditation
The course is accredited by the City & Guilds of London Institute.

Who will benefit?
National Health Service staff or contractors required to perform the duties of a Test Person as defined in current HTM Guidelines., HTM 01-05.

Aim
To enable delegates to carry out the recommended daily, weekly, quarterly and annual testing procedures for transportable vacuum steam sterilizers in accordance with current HTM guidance and obtain the City & Guilds of London Institute certificate 2295-08.

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
  • Carry out periodic testing
  • Complete test records and correctly interpret the results
  • Calibrate and use appropriate test equipment

Other information
Relevant guidance which relates to the use of Benchtop Sterilizers (B Type) will be referred to during the course.

Development will depend on current or future roles. Test persons may wish to progress as follows:

Endoscopy washer testing:
WTM2 - Flexible endoscope washer disinfectors - quarterly testing
WTM3 - Flexible endoscope washer disinfectors - annual testing

Porous load sterilizers:
STM2 - Large porous load sterilizers - quarterly testing
STM3 - Large porous load sterilizers - annual testing & revalidation
