SSSM - Steam plant maintenance

This course is accredited the City and Guilds of London Institute.

Who will benefit?
Staff involved with the maintenance and installation of steam systems, staff wishing to obtain a recognised skills qualification and those involved in multi-skills training.

Aim
To provide delegates with the basic knowledge and practical skills necessary to safely maintain steam boiler plant and condensate systems, and to pass module 13 of the City and Guilds of London Engineering skills 1619.

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
  • The fundamentals of steam systems
  • Good installation practices
  • Boiler water level control and alarms
  • Maintenance of steam traps, pressure reducing valves, condensate pumps and other ancillary equipment
  • Basic boiler house maintenance – feedwater treatment and burner

Other information
Previous experience of steam is helpful but not essential.  Delegates would benefit by first taking the FREE Spirax-Sarco Steam Utilisation correspondence course.  Contact us for further details.

What next?
This short course is an introduction to heat systems and could be followed up by a wide range of courses, including the steam system courses offered by Spirax-Sarco.
