MGHM - Medical gas hose making (EN 739)

Who will benefit?
Staff employed in EBME departments with responsibility for manufacturing medical gas hoses on-site. The course is ideally suited to healthcare personnel who also inspect, test and replace medical gas hoses.

Aim
The course will focus on the manufacture and testing of medical gas hoses in line with
EN 739. The course is designed to increase knowledge of medical gas hoses and their safe manufacture and use. You will learn how to identify and use manufacturing equipment and gas specific connectors as well as learning the correct methods of labelling to the EN standards.

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
  • Identify pipeline components and the equipment used to manufacture and test hoses
  • Recognise medical gas hose colour codes
  • Perform tests to distinguish between and confirm gas specific connections
  • Examine, evaluate and record suitability of hose assemblies
  • Use equipment to make up hoses
  • Manufacture medical gas hose assemblies in accordance with HTM 02.

Other information
Equipment used during the course include: surgical diathermy, cryosurgical devices, insufflators, tourniquet devices, surgical lighting equipment, gas monitoring devices, endoscopic equipment, and camera systems.
