LVCP - Competent person - LV (HTM 06-02)

The course is accredited by EAL (EMTA Awards Ltd). An assessment is carried out at the end of the course.

Prerequisite to attending the course
Candidates must be able to demonstrate adequate prior knowledge of BS 7671 to ensure they have the potential to successfully gain the update qualification.

Who will benefit?
Electricians, maintenance staff and engineers working in accordance with HTM 0602.

Aim
To present the essential information contained in HTM 06, Electrical Services Safety, Supply, Distribution and Management and other NHS guidance on this subject, in a concise and easily assimilated form.

Objectives
  • Explain the role of the competent person as specified in HTM 06-02
  • Discuss the requirement for safety documents in accordance with HTM 06-02
  • Specify the safety guidance for carrying out work on electrical systems
  • Demonstrate safe methods of work in accordance with the Electrical Services Safety guidance
  • Explain the purpose of a Permit to Work in accordance with HTM 06-02
  • Explain the safety precautions taken when temporarily leaving a work area
