Assessors & internal quality assurers


IQAA - Level 4 award - internal quality assurance of assessment processes & practice

Duration
6 months assessment in the workplace

Prerequisite to undertaking the course
Fully occupationally knowledgeable in the work sector that you are intending to verify, have two assessor-candidates who will be assessing a candidate(s) doing a course involving both training and assessment.

Accreditation

This course is accredited by City & Guilds and is on the QCF (Quality Credit Framework).

Who will benefit?

Candidates who want to be involved in the verifying of training and assessment as well as the employer who may want an in-house IQA (Internal Quality Assurance) qualified person.

Aim
To enable candidate(s) to achieve levels of knowledge and be assessed on the competence of verification practice, and gaining credits for each individual unit completed to use for progression purposes.

Objectives
Candidate(s) will be assessed in competence and acquire skills and knowledge in:
  • Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring quality of assessment (6 credits)
  • Internally assure the quality of assessment (6 credits)
  • Plan, allocate and monitor work in own area of responsibility (5 credits)

What next?
These units are designed to be achieved individually or as a full qualification.
The “understanding the principle” is knowledge based and can be undertaken by anyone interested in the knowledge without going on to be a practitioner, however, can move onto the other units if wished.

There is a progression route through these qualifications but it is not mandatory, they are done in any order.

The units relate to and are designed to complement and allow progression onto the following qualifications:

  • 7303 L3 & L4 Award in preparing to teach in lifelong learning (PTLLS)
  • 7304 L3 & L4 Certificate to teach in the lifelong sector (CTLLS)
  • 7305 L5 Diploma in teaching in the lifelong learning sector (DTLLS)
There are opportunities for Recognition for prior learning (RPL) between these two suites of qualifications.
