FGASR - CITB safe handling of refrigerants / F-Gas refresher

Prerequisite
Delegates should have a CITB safe handling of refrigerant gases or FGas certificate prior to attending this course.

Introduction

Under F-Gas regulations, the certification to handle refrigerant gases became mandatory as of July 2007. Special emphasis is placed on safety and the environmental aspects of refrigerants. Certification leads to continued registration with the CITB and is recognised by ACRIB – the refrigeration industry body.

Accreditation
The course is accredited by CITB Construction Skills. Assessment will be by a written test paper and observation of the delegate working on a system.

Who will benefit?
Refrigeration maintenance and installation engineers whose existing CITB certification and registration is close to expiry and who are seeking a fast track route to the new F-Gas certificate.

Aim
To update the skills and knowledge required of engineers actively working in the field of refrigeration.

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
  • Safely perform refrigerant recovery
  • Carry out dehydration of the refrigeration system
  • Demonstrate pressure testing of systems
  • Undertake leak detecting and charging
  • Explain relevant environmental legislation, regulations and best practice
  • Perform appropriate pipework and brazing techniques

Other information
Fire retardant overalls, eye protection and a passport size photo are required for this course.
