Who will benefit?
Operators of endoscope washer-disinfectors who may include nursing staff and any other person who is responsible for the decontamination of endoscopes and the operation of an endoscope washer-disinfector.

Aim
This course will provide delegates with required knowledge and skills to meet their responsibilities as an operator (as defined in HTM 2030) of an endoscope washer-disinfector, and successfully decontaminate endoscopes ready for patient use.

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
  • Describe their role and responsibilities as recommended in HTM 2030/HTM 01-06
  • Explain the periodic testing requirements of endoscope washer–disinfectors as recommended in HTM 2030/HTM 01-06
  • Carry out daily checks on endoscope washer–disinfectors as recommended in HTM 2030/HTM 01-06    
  • Carry out the automatic control test and the cleaning efficacy test for residual soil
  • Explain the principle of how an endoscope washer-disinfector works and how to load it correctly

Other information
Practical exercises form an important part of this course, enabling delegates to fulfill their role. If delivered in-house at your premises, equipment must be provided by the client to accomplish this.
