ENCT - Cooling towers (HTM 04 & ACoP L8)

The course is accredited by the City & Guilds of London Institute. An assessment is carried out at the end of the course.
Who will benefit?
Managers and engineers who are responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of water systems within buildings.
Aim
Provides delegates with current legal and technical requirements for the control of legionella bacteria in cooling towers, condensers and associated plant and the skills necessary to manage and maintain water systems effectively in compliance with ACoP L8.
Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
- Describe case law that relates to previous negligence in water system safety
- Explain the occurrence, ecology and transmission routes of legionella
- Legal issues, including statute requirements, ACoP L8 technical and
guidance documents
- Demonstrate effective water treatment methods
- Recommend methods of cleaning and disinfection of water systems
- Explain good hygiene working practices in relation to building water systems
- Testing water for traces of bacteria and legionella
- Reporting and recording procedures, including operation and maintenance
logs and control measures to minimise risks.

Delegates should attend:
ENWS - Managing legionella in building water systems
as a prerequisite to this programme.
