Who will benefit?
This course is aimed at those who already have experience in the management of medical
gas pipeline systems, particularly those who are to be designated Authorised Persons.

Aim
The course is designed to enable suitably experienced personnel to accept responsibility for the management of a medical gas pipeline system in their role of Authorised Person as defined in HTM 02.

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
  • Define and perform all engineering tests relevant to the commissioning and refurbishing of medical gas pipeline systems
  • Manage a ‘Permit to Work’ system for medical gas pipeline systems by performing all duties of an Authorised Person as defined in HTM 02
  • Describe and apply all relevant safety procedures when working on medical gas pipeline systems and identify potentially hazardous practices and situations
  • Apply the principles and algorithms in current guidance to the design of medical gas pipeline systems
  • Assess their medical gas pipeline systems for compliance with current standards.
  • Contribute to the writing/updating of a current policy

Other information
Due to the intensive nature of this programme, the delegate should be prepared for supplementary work during their week’s attendance at Eastwood Park.

What next?

It is recommended that the refresher course:

EMGR - Medical gas pipeline systems - authorised persons refresher

should be taken at three year intervals.
