ELTP - Release of trapped passengers (HTM08-02) BS7255 LOLER and SAFed

Prerequisite
According to BS7255 & HTM 08-02, staff members responsible for the release of passengers trapped in a lift should be approved by the management

Accreditation
A certificate of competence will be issued to successful delegates. If the training is conducted at the client’s premises (for 4 or more delegates), the course can be accredited. Please ask for details and a quotation.

Who will benefit?
Lift release wardens and staff members who would be required to release trapped passengers, safely, with minimum time delay and damage, from a building’s lift system in non-emergency situations. This may include estate officers, maintenance technicians, porters, security staff and caretakers.

Aim
To provide delegates with the skills and knowledge necessary to release passengers from lift installations, in a safe and responsible manner. Lifts are inherently dangerous and safety will be of prime importance during the course.

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
  • Apply the principles of the release of trapped passengers from an electric traction lift in accordance with HTM 08-02 and other guidance
  • Apply the principles of the release of trapped passengers from an hydraulic lift in accordance with HTM 08-02 and other guidance
  • Work in accordance to safe working procedures with electrical equipment and rotating equipment
  • Safely work with other personnel
  • Leave the lift installation in a safe condition

Other information
The course is mainly practical, with some formal classroom work and assessment of competency. Due to the practical nature of the course, it is recommended that delegates bring a pair of overalls and hardhats.
