Who will benefit?
Those responsible for the procurement of projects and suppliers for building construction projects whether the works are for new build, refurbishment or maintenance.
Aim
To provide an overview of industry best practice enabling delegates to make the right procurement choices, select the most suitable form of building contract for particular projects and choose the best suppliers for delivery.
Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
- Identify the key steps for establishing the best procurement route
- List the various procurement options, contrast their strengths and weaknesses
- Compare JCT, NEC, ICE and GC Works standard forms of contract for building construction
- Compare and contrast the RIBA, ICE and NEC standard form of consultant contract for the provision of professional services
- Identify key risks relating to building construction contracts and compare the different approaches adopted to risk allocation
- Identify the key steps to implementing an effective tender evaluation process for suppliers
- Cut through marketing rhetoric and apply objective measures to establish criteria and weightings that will help ensure that only the best suppliers are chosen.
- Be aware of the key OJEU requirements for the provision of public works contracts
