DTM - SSD supervisors / managers course (HTM 2010/2030)

Duration
4.5 days

Prerequisite to attending the course
Delegates should be working in a supervisor/manager role within an acute trust/sterile services environment.

Accreditation
The course is accredited by the City & Guilds of London Institute.

Who will benefit?
National Health Service staff and others in the private sector who have responsibility for the management and production of all sterile services and goods. These include Sterile Services managers, supervisors and those designated ‘the user’ as defined in HTM 2010/2030.

Aim
To enable delegates to meet their responsibilities as Users and obtain City & Guilds accreditation 229515. (This course could be used to provide evidence of some of the knowledge and understanding criteria for NVQ Level III).

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
  • Explain the decontamination process
  • State the main responsibilities of key personnel defined in HTM 2010/2030, HTM 01-01 Part A and EN standards as appropriate
  • Identify appropriate documentation
  • Define various sterilization and washer-disinfection processes
  • Describe the operating principles of porous load sterilizers
  • State the periodic tests required for washers and sterilizers
  • Interpret the test reports provided by the Test Person
  • Describe record keeping procedures
  • Carry out daily and weekly tests

Other information
The course includes practical work on sterilizers and washer-disinfectors to help in the attainment of the objectives.

What next?

Although our User’s course covers washer disinfectors, it does not cover the more specific requirements of flexible endoscope washer disinfectors. Knowledge of this subject can be gained by attending:
