Who will benefit?
This course has been specifically designed for personnel required to perform the duties of a Test Person as defined in the current HTM guidance. The course provides the recognised qualification for those who have been designated Test Persons and Maintenance Persons in the Health Service, and employees of contractors performing Maintenance Person duties, as defined in the current HTM guidance.

Aim
To provide the underpinning knowledge and practical skills required in order to safely and effectively carry out the periodic testing required in compliance with current HTM guidance.

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
  • Explain the need for regular testing of a human waste washer disinfector.
  • Identify and reference the appropriate documentation: HTM guidance,
    EN ISO 15883-3.
  • List testing procedures required in accordance with the current HTM guidance.
  • Carry out periodic testing.
  • Complete test records and interpret results correctly.
  • Calibrate and use data logging test equipment as a test recording device.

Other information
The course includes practical work on sterilizers and washer-disinfectors to help in the attainment of the objectives.

Depending on the role of the Test Person:

WTM1 - Washer disinfectors – periodic testing
WTM2 - Flexible endoscope washer disinfectors – quarterly testing
WTM3 - Flexible endoscope washer disinfectors – annual testing
