AWCA - Level 3 award - assessing competence in the work environment

Duration
6 months assessment in the workplace
Prerequisite to undertaking the course
Fully occupationally competent in the work sector you are intending to assess and have two candidates who will be following a course involving both training and assessment.

This course is accredited by City & Guilds.
Who will benefit?
- Candidates who want to be involved in training and assessment.
- Employers who may want an in-house assessor.
Aim
To enable candidate(s) to achieve levels of knowledge and be assessed on the competence of assessment practice, and gain credits for each individual unit completed to use for progression purposes.
Objectives
Candidate(s) will be assessed in competence and acquire skills and knowledge in:
- Understanding the principles and practices of assessment (3 credits)
- Assess occupational competence in the work environment (6 credits)
- Assessing vocational skills, knowledge and understanding (6 credits)
- Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding (6 credits)
What next?
These units can be achieved individually or as a full qualification.
The “understanding the principles” are knowledge based and can be undertaken by anyone interested in the knowledge without going on to be a practitioner, however, can move onto the other units if wished.
There is a progression route through these qualifications but it is not mandatory they are done in any order.
The units relate to and are designed to complement and allow progression onto the following qualifications:
- 7303 L3 & L4 Award in preparing to teach in lifelong learning (PTLLS)
- 7304 L3 & L4 Certificate to teach in the lifelong sector (CTLLS)
- 7305 L5 Diploma in teaching in the lifelong learning sector (DTLLS)
There are opportunities for Recognition for prior learning (RPL) between these two suites of qualifications. |
