First Aid at Work Course | STS-FA

Who will benefit?
Nominated workplace first aiders, or anyone wanting a comprehensive introduction to first aid.

Aim
The course content will demonstrate how to deal with the common injuries and accidents that happen in the work place. The course will not only cover dealing with an injury but also how to recognise an illness. Another aspect to the course will look at accurate record keeping.

Provide the delegates with the knowledge and confidence to deal with a first aid emergency in the workplace.

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:

  • Define the Health and Safety First Aid regulations 1981
  • Demonstrate how to resuscitate a person
  • Demonstrate how to manage a unconscious person
  • Show how to treat burns and scalds
  • Show how to treat injuries to bones
  • Show how to treat minor injuries
  • Show how to treat shock
  • Show how to treat eye injuries
  • Describe various types of poisons, fumes and gases and explain how they can be detected
  • Demonstrate good record keeping in respect of injuries.
  • Explain the necessity of personal hygiene and how this impact on cross infection.
