Decontamination of reusable medical devices | STO1

Who will benefit?
People involved in the use of benchtop washer disinfectors, ultrasonic baths and transportable steam sterilizers. These may include treatment room nurses, GPs, Dentists and Nurses, Podiatry staff, SSD staff and any other person who is responsible for the decontamination of reusable medical devices.

Aim
To enable delegates to meet their responsibilities as users and operators as defined in HTM 2010/2030.

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
- Understand the complete reusable medical device decontamination process.
- Understand and list periodic daily testing on benchtop washer disinfectors, ultrasonic baths and transportable steam sterilizers as recommended in HTM 2010/2030.
- Define their role and responsibilities as recommended in HTM 2010/2030
- Complete test records accurately and precisely
- Explain the reasons for correct usage and loading of decontamination equipment.
Accreditation
The course is accredited by the City & Guilds of London Institute.

Other information
Practical exercises form an important part of this course, enabling delegates to fulfil their role. Equipment must be provided by the client to accomplish this, if delivered on-site.
