Servicing Operating Theatre and Surgical Equipment | SOTSE

Who will benefit?
All staff involved in the maintenance and servicing of operating theatre and surgical equipment who wish to achieve the Engineering Maintenance Level 3 S/NVQ via the Servicing Medical Equipment Pathway.

Aim
To provide the underpinning knowledge required in order to safely and competently carry out servicing activities on a range of operating theatre and surgical equipment and to provide practical experience of direct relevance to the Servicing Operating Theatre and Surgical Equipment S/NVQ (unit number 66).

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
- Identify the requirements for the safe management of operating theatre and surgical equipment.
- Perform tests on operating theatre and surgical equipment to verify electrical safety.
- Describe the principles of operation and applications of a range of operating theatre and surgical equipment.
- Apply appropriate techniques for functional testing, calibration, fault finding and scheduled servicing of a range of operating theatre and surgical devices.
Accreditation
This course has been specifically designed to provide underpinning knowledge and practical experience required for the National Occupational Standard in Servicing Cardiovascular Equipment (unit 66). Candidates will also gain knowledge understanding and experience to help them meet the requirements of the core and pathway specific mandatory units for the Engineering Maintenance S/NVQ.
