Who will benefit?
All staff involved in the maintenance and servicing of Medical Imaging equipment (X-ray / Ultrasound) who wish to achieve the Engineering Maintenance Level 3 S/NVQ via the Servicing Medical Equipment Pathway.

Aim
To provide the underpinning knowledge required in order to safely and competently carry out servicing activities on a range of Medical Imaging equipment and to provide practical experience of direct relevance to the Servicing Imaging Equipment S/NVQ (unit number 67).

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:

  • Identify the requirements for the safe engineering management of medical imaging equipment.
  • Perform tests on medical imaging equipment to verify relevant safety requirements are met.
  • Describe the principles of operation and applications of a range of medical Imaging equipment.
  • Apply appropriate techniques for functional testing, calibration, fault finding and scheduled servicing of a range of medical Imaging Equipment.

Accreditation
This course has been specifically designed to provide underpinning knowledge and practical experience required for the National Occupational Standard in Servicing Cardiovascular Equipment (unit 67). Candidates will also gain knowledge understanding and experience to help them meet the requirements of the core and pathway specific mandatory units for the Engineering Maintenance S/NVQ.
