Infection prevention in the sluice room | SLR

Who will benefit?
This course has been specifically designed for all levels of staff involved with aspects of patient care and infection prevention, with a specific focus on sluice room activities and how best practice can impact on patient care and standards of hygiene

Aim
To raise awareness of the importance of maintenance of hygiene within the sluice room to prevent cross contamination and healthcare associated Infections (HAI’s)

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
- Relate the principles of microbiology and infection prevention to the sluice room environment
- Understand the importance of maintaining a clean sluice room environment
- Understand the high risk aspects within a sluice room and implement appropriate safety procedures
- Inform others in the principles of infection prevention and encourage best practice
- Demonstrate the operation of a Front loading Human waste washer disinfector
- Demonstrate the process of regular testing test on a Human waste washer disinfector in line with HTM guidance document
