N/SVQ assessors A1 award | EPA1

Who will benefit?
This award is mandatory for anyone who is not yet qualified to 'D32/33' or A1 and wishes to assess candidates undertaking an NVQ or other competency based qualification. In addition you must prove to be occupationally competent for the specific award that you wish to assess and have the opportunity to assess 2 registered candidates for their own awards.

What does it involve?
Once you are registered on the A1 award, you will be trained in this role and receive all resources, development and support for you to learn and apply your skills with your allocated 2 candidates. Once you are confident and competent in your assessor role then you will be allocated a qualified assessor who will assess you for your A1 award.

Methodology - You wil required to attend the following to achieve your award
  • 1 x 2 day group residential at Eastwood Park to define the assessor’s role
  • 2 standardisation meetings / development days. All Centre assessors have to attend at least 3 half day standardisation meetings a year, however we have extended these days for trainee assessors to review their progress and meet development needs in the afternoon. This gives you an additional 2 half-day development opportunities. These will be held at Eastwood Park
  • 3 one-to-one 2-hour coaching/review/assessment planning sessions with your A1 assessor
  • 1 day to be assessed by your qualified assessor for your A1 award, in your workplace

How Long will Take?
You need to provide evidence that you have assessed 2 candidates competently across 3 units of their award.  You must achieve your A1 award within 18 months of commencing your assessor’s role.

How much will the full NVQ cost?
The inclusive fee for all of the above (Training, Planning, Coaching, Reviewing, Assessment, Internal Verification and Residential fees), City & Guilds Registration and Certification, and Award Administration is; £1,855 + VAT.  In addition Assessor/IV travel (at 40 pence per mile), to/from your workplace, and subsistence will be charged at cost.
