The Application of Firecode to New, Altered and Extended Healthcare Premises | EP-MAN

Who will benefit?
Hospital fire safety advisors, aspiring hospital safety advisors, or newly appointed hospital fire safety advisors.  Personnel who require training in hospital fire safety.

Hospital Fire Safety advisors, Healthcare Engineers, Healthcare Estate staff, Building Control Officers in the public or private sector, requiring training in Firecode approach to healthcare fire safety.

Delegates should be in healthcare fire safety or about to have a role in healthcare fire safety and possess a basic understanding of healthcare fire safety principles.

Aim
To contribute to the development of delegates in their role as either hospital fire safety advisors, designers or building control officers. Delegates will be equipped with the necessary understanding of Firecode guidance when either designing or altering healthcare premises or approving schemes under statutory legislation.

To apply the recommendations of Firecode HTM05-02: Guidance in support of functional provisions for healthcare premises, and other associated Firecode’s;

Be made aware of the managerial responsibilities contained in Firecode and the necessity to prepare fire strategies; 

Be made aware of the managerial responsibilities contained in Firecode and the necessity to prepare fire strategies for existing buildings;

Attendance on this module will enable delegates to visit and undertake a group fire risk assessment of the patient care areas of an existing hospital following the input and guidance given on the course.  The findings of the group fire risk assessments will be analysed upon return.

Objectives
Following attendance at the course delegates will have an understanding of the relevant Firecode requirements and their application when new, altered and extended healthcare schemes are being proposed.

Accreditation
A certificate of attendance is awarded upon completion of the course which qualifies for guided learning hours
