Working safely in an Engineering Environment (Lift Safety) | EOR/202

Who will benefit?
Anyone who at anytime may be working on a lift or related equipment, within a lift well, lift pit, car top and machine room.

Aim
To provide a sound basis for carrying out activities in the 'lift shaft / machine room ' environment safely and correctly.

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:

  • Comply with your duties and obligations as defined in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Apply safe working practices and procedures at all times.
  • Follow organisational accident and emergency procedures
  • Recognise and control hazards in the workplace to minimise risks
  • Use correct manual/mechanical lifting and carrying techniques
  • Safely operate lifts taking into account all safety precautions and practices and follow established procedures.

  • All the above will be carried out in accordance with current standards and codes of practice used in the electrical lift industry, and refer to British Standards and Health and Safety regulations.

Other Information
It will benefit people who have no knowledge or concept of the principles of lift machinery. The course is a mixture of practical and classroom work. Overalls and hard hats will be required.
