Who will benefit?
All staff involved in the management and operation of potable water systems in healthcare premises.

Aim
To provide an understanding of the regulations and related publications and to explain the steps necessary to comply with them in a healthcare setting.

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
- Understand the medical criteria
- Be aware of statutory and non-statutory health and safety requirements
- Understand water filtering and materials documentation
- Identify and evaluate the area of risk
- Understand the role of the Approved Contractor
- Implement HTM 2040: The Control of Legionella in Healthcare Premises.

The course is accredited by the City & Guilds of London Institute.
Other Information
The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 prohibit the use of fittings that can cause: Waste, misuse, undue consumption or contamination of water supplied by a water undertaker, or the erroneous measurement of water supplied by a water undertaker. The regulations also prohibit the use of any fittings which by reason of being damaged, worn or otherwise faulty can cause any of these problems. Every water fitting should be of an appropriate quality and standard, as defined in the regulations, and must be suitable for the situation in which it is used.
