Who will benefit?
This course is designed for managers, supervisors, employee representatives and others who require a basic knowledge and understanding of occupational safety and health.

Aim

At the end of the course participants will have gained a wide breadth of underpinning knowledge in occupational safety and health to enable them to carry out their organisational duties or functions with respect to workplace occupational health and safety.

  • Unit 6 Principles of control: prevention and hierarchy
  • Unit 7 Movement of people and vehicles - Hazards and control
  • Unit 8 Manual and mechanical handling
  • Unit 9 Work equipment; hazards and control; general work equipment
  • Unit 10 Electrical hazards
  • Unit 11 Fire hazards and control
  • Unit 12 Chemical and biological hazards
  • Unit 13 Physical and psychological hazards
  • Unit 14 Construction activities
  • Unit 16 Monitoring, review and audit
  • Paper A1 The management of Safety and Health (2 hours)
  • Paper A2 Controlling workplace hazrds (2 hours)
  • Practical assessment: part B

Accreditation
The NEBOSH General Certificate is a recognised qualification and provides a solid foundation on which a basic level of competence in occupational health and safety can be developed further.
