Medical
Gas Pipeline Systems - Authorised Persons | EMGM

Who will benefit?
All those
with management responsibility for the safe operation, installation and
maintenance of Medical Gas Pipeline Systems, particularly those who are
(or will be) designated Authorised Persons by Health Service organisations
or contractors responsible for installation and maintenance of such services.

Aim
The course is designed to develop a working knowledge of Medical Gas Pipeline
Systems based on the guidance given in HTM 02; ‘Medical Gas Pipeline
Systems’ and other current guidance.

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
- Define and perform all engineering tests relevant
to the commissioning and refurbishing of Medical Gas Pipeline Systems
- Manage a Permit to Work system for Medical Gas Pipeline
Systems by performing all duties of an Authorised Person as defined
in HTM 02
- Describe and apply all relevant safety procedures
when working on MGPS systems and identify potentially hazardous practices
and situations
- Apply the principles and algorithms in current guidance
to the design of Medical Gas Pipeline Systems
- Assess their Medical Gas Pipeline Systems for compliance
with current standards
- Contribute to the writing/updating of a current
policy
Accreditation
This course is accredited by BTEC and MOD.

Other information
Particular emphasis will be paid to the proper operation of the Permit to Work system, safe working practices and production of an operational policy for MGPS as required by HTM 02.

NB: This course can now be taken as two 4.5 day modules. In order to qualify for the BTEC accreditation delegates must complete the two week training within a 12 month period
What next?
It is recommended that the refresher course EMGR should be taken at three year intervals.
