Who will benefit?
Staff who have been appointed or are about to be appointed as the Fire Safety Manager for their healthcare organisation.

Aim
To provide delegates with the information and guidance needed to undertake their duties as Fire Safety Manager (Responsible Person) required by statutory legislation and the mandatory requirements of FIRECODE.

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:
- Understand the duties and responsibilities of the fire safety manager role in fire safety;
- Develop and prepare a fire policy, fire safety strategies and site specific evacuation plans for all premises under their jurisdiction
- Ensure that appropriate levels of management are always available
- Develop skills to prepare and co-ordinate Fire safety strategies for all premises, Fire safety training and drills and Emergency fire evacuation procedures
- Prepare and process fire incident reports
- Co-ordinate and prepare the annual Firecode statement of fire safety
- Develop an understanding of the statutory and mandatory requirements of the Fire Safety Order and Firecode for which they are responsible

Other Information
FIRECODE HTM05 - Managing healthcare fire safety requires chief executive to nominate a member of staff to undertake the duties of Fire Safety Manager and Deputy Fire Safety Managers to ensure there is always a key decision-maker available when premises are occupied.
The course will provide such persons with the knowledge they require for the post of fire safety manager.
It will include an overview of the Fire Safety Order and the principles of undertaking fire risk assessments and fire safety audits in healthcare premises.
