SSD Supervisors / Managers Course | DTM

Who will benefit?
National Health Service staff and others in the private sector who have responsibility for the management and all production of sterile services and goods. These include Sterile Services Managers, Supervisors and those designated ‘the user’ as defined in HTM 2010/2030.

Aim
To enable delegates to meet their responsibilities as Users and obtain the City & Guilds accreditation (229515). This course will also enable delegates to provide evidence for units 005 and 010 of the Institute of Decontamination Sciences TVQ and also associated elements of their NVQ level 3.

Objectives
Delegates will acquire the skills and knowledge to:

  • Explain the decontamination process
  • State the main responsibilities of key personnel defined in HTM 2010/2030*
  • Identify appropriate documentation
  • Define various sterilization and washer-disinfection processes
  • Describe the operating principles of porous load sterilizers
  • State the periodic tests required for washers and sterilizers.
  • Interpret the test reports provided by the Test Person
  • Describe record keeping procedures
  • Carry out daily and weekly tests

Accreditation
The course is accredited by the City & Guilds of London Institute.

Other information
The course includes practical work on sterilizers and washer-disinfectors to help in the attainment of the objectives.
What next
Although our Users course cover washer disinfectors it does not cover the more specific requirements of flexible endoscope washer disinfectors. Knowledge of this subject can be gained by attending our WTM 4 course – Testing Flexible Endoscope Washer Disinfectors to HTM 2030 for Users.
